Built to be usable, not just to look right.

What we have done for accessibility on bioregen.me, where we stand against WCAG 2.1 AA, and how to tell us about a barrier.

This statement covers bioregen.me: our shop, research library, guides, and account pages. It does not cover the hosted payment step at checkout, which our payment processor renders and controls, not this site.

Our commitment

BioRegen exists to give researchers clear, well-organized information about the materials we supply. We want people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, or other assistive technology to be able to browse the research library, read a product's research notes, and find their way through the site. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix, and we review and improve these pages on a regular basis.

What we have done

Concrete steps taken on this site so far:

  • Keyboard operability: the mobile menu toggle is a real, focusable button (aria-expanded, aria-label) that works with Tab and Enter or Space, not a mouse-only control.
  • Visible focus: an outline is shown around the control currently focused by a keyboard, so you can always see where you are on the page.
  • Motion sensitivity: page animations are reduced automatically for visitors whose device is set to prefer reduced motion.
  • Screen-reader labeling: interactive controls such as the menu toggle and the account and cart icons carry a text label, and the page's language is marked so assistive technology reads it correctly.
  • Images: the BioRegen logo and other meaningful images carry descriptive alt text.

Where we stand today

We aim for these pages to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We have not commissioned an independent, professional accessibility audit or certification of this site, so we are not claiming full or certified WCAG conformance today. We are not using an accessibility overlay or widget as a substitute for fixing the underlying page; the steps above are changes to the pages themselves.

Honest gap: this site does not yet have a "skip to main content" link, so a keyboard user has to tab through the full navigation on every page before reaching the content. We have not completed a full, page-by-page accessibility review of every product and checkout page. If you run into something that does not work well with a keyboard or assistive technology, please tell us, we would rather know and fix it.

Please describe what you were trying to do, the page address, and the device or assistive technology you were using, so we can find and fix the specific problem.
